Letter written by Seymour H. Saltzman to his patients<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

June 1, 1985<\/p>\n

Dear Patient:<\/p>\n

I am writing to tell you that I intend to terminate my practice and will no longer see patients after September 1, 1985. If you have an appointment before September 1, please plan to keep that appointment. For any new problems which develop between now and September 1, I will be available to help resolve them in the same manner as in the past.<\/p>\n

I am aware that this action may cause a hardship for some who have been under my care for many years. For this reason I am trying to give you adequate time to arrange for another physician to assume your medical care. I will try to assist you in every possible way so that the transition will go smoothly.<\/p>\n

Your records will be available to whomever you select. You need only notify me with a signed statement indicating to whom you wish your records sent. If you have not decided by September 1, please do not worry . I will continue to hold your files and will mail them whenever you so request.<\/p>\n

I have made this decision for many reasons, the simplest one being that I feel 30 years is a significantly long time to devote to primary medical care. The practice of medicine today is greatly different from what it was when I began in 1955. I also want to do many other things in the future. These include travel, family genealogy, gardening, reading and community service. Most important, I want to spend part of my life in Israel with my family there and doing volunteer medical work where there is a need for such experience as I have to offer.<\/p>\n

I thank you for the trust and confidence you placed in me. I look forward to seeing you, perhaps once more this summer in the office, and if not, to seeing you in a non-professional way in the community.<\/p>\n
